Hosting a party outdoors allows for additional space to separate your guests and keep your party space as safe as possible. According to WHO, World Health Organization, here are measures you can take to prevent the spread of Covid-19 among guests. I am ORGANIZING a small gathering. What precautions should I take to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among guests? Always check local guidelines before planning your event. Brief guests about precautions before the event starts; during the event, remind guests of these precautions and ensure they are followed. Choose outdoor venues over indoor spaces – if indoors, ensure the area is well-ventilated. Minimize crowding by staggering arrivals and departures, numbering entries, designating seats/places and marking the floor to ensure physical distancing between people of at least one meter. Provide all necessary supplies – hand hygiene stations, hand sanitizer or soap and water, tissues, closed-lid bins, distance markers, masks. 2. Mask it up If your party has guests outside of your household, be sure to mask it up! Halloween is the perfect time to ensure that guests wear masks. Encourage mask-wearing by having a "Best Costume/Halloween Mask Contest". Guests can feel comfortable during a conversation when encouraged to wear proper facial coverings. Be sure to ask guests to wear proper masks under Halloween costumes. 3. Keep it small Small gatherings are a great way to maintain a safer environment. Keep your party small for a safer space! Ask all guests that arrive to only show up if they are feeling healthy and to maintain social distancing throughout the party. 4. Space it out Spread tables and seating out under the outdoor party tent. This allows for easy social distancing and minimizes over-crowding in one space. Also, space out the food/drinks station. Rather than collective food baskets with chips and salsa, have personal plates for each guest to pick up with food already prepared on them. This minimizes the number of hands in each food tray. You can also set up hand sanitizer and serving spoons/forks for guests to use. Write names down on each plate or cup with a permanent marker or label maker so guests don't accidentally drink or eat after each other. 5. Have fun Don't forget to have fun!
